Ed Harcourt joins the Streets

Ed Harcourt may be busy creating the soundtrack for the next Donnie Darko moving picture, but he's also establish time to play mandolin for the Streets.

The Mercury-nominated singer-songwriter was called into Mike Skinner's recording sessions after Harcourt's wife became involved. "My wife plays violin on the record and they needed someone who could play banjo and mandolin," Harcourt explained to BBC 6 Music. "I happened to be nearby."

The Streets' PlayStation rap music is a far cry from Harcourt's torch songs, but he is yet a adult fan. "I think the Streets are great. I can't wait to hear it. I've heard songs that I'm playing on that are amazing. [Mike Skinner] has definitely got something to say, I think."

Alongside process for the Streets, the Veils and singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell, Harcourt is too very busy with his soundtrack for Chris Fisher's controversial Donnie Darko subsequence [http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/jul/16/news.seanmichaels1]. Though S. Darko is an official Darko sequel, it does not feature of speech the involvement or blessing of original creator Richard Kelly.

"It's going be one of those fairly experimental things," Harcourt said of the soundtrack. "I've been listening to a lot of Philip Glass and John Adams. I've been inspired by the Record for a Dream soundtrack and William Basinski and his Disintegration Loops [albums]. It's leaving to be weird, dingy ambient kind of stuff."

"You get sent a gravelly cut of the film and and then you learn it. I've got to buy the equipment to be able to do it. So it's trial and error really. I'm quite new to it."

In that case, Ed, put aside the grunge mandolin and get to it!

Jenna Jameson - Jenna Jameson Seeks New Start With Mainstream Film

JENNA JAMESON hopes Hollywood will accept her as a mainstream actress, after swapping porn for regular films.

Jameson, 34, was catapulted into the limelight at the age of 20 and has carved out a career as one of the most successful adult actresses of her generation.

But she turned her back on porn last year (07) and hopes new movie Zombie Strippers will help her find success without sex.

She says, "For me, as a person, it's a natural transition. Most girls are a little bit afraid because America's not very accepting of what I do.

"I wanted people to think of me more as a smart girl rather than just a bimbo. And it was easy for me to do that."

Jameson confesses her role in Zombie Strippers isn't a complete departure from her former career: "There's a lot of T and A. There's a lot of crazy gore. But there's also a lot of political undertones against the whole Bush administration.

"That's part of the reason I did the movie. I kind of fancy myself a political girl."

Embracing the occasion, Grohl told the crowd as Page and Jones joined him onstage: “Tonight this is gonna be the show that we’re gonna be talking about for the next 20 years!"

For those of you who weren’t fortunate enough to be in the 86,000 strong crowd, here’s a collection of Youtube clips of the event.

Eastenders - Michelle Ryan Voted Worst Us Accent

Tearful Day-Lewis pays tribute to Ledger

Daniel Day-Lewis paid an emotional tribute to late actor Heath Ledger during an appearance on the 'Oprah Winfrey Show' yesterday.
The actor's eyes filled with tears as he spoke, via satellite, of his regret on learning of Ledger's sudden death on Tuesday.
Day-Lewis, who was on the show to discuss his Oscar nomination for 'There Will Be blood', said he felt "strange" talking about anything else.
"There isn't anything to say other than to express one's regret to his family and his friends and to say from the bottom of one's heart...that I'm sorry for their trouble."
The actor continued: "I didn't know him. I have a strong impression I would have liked him very much, as a person, if I had."
He added: "I had already marvelled at some of his work. And looked forward to the work he would do in the future."
Day-Lewis prayed Ledger's loved ones would be left alone to grieve, saying: "This is going to be something they are going to be living with for the rest of their lives."
